Being strong in Jesus means relying totally on his power and strength instead of our own personal effort. When we rely on his power we allow his grace to sustain us through difficulties and challenges.
We read in the Bible in 2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My Grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness. So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.” Here, we understand strength comes from Jesus and not our own merits. In order to gain this strength we need to remain connected to Christ through constant prayer and reading the Word of God.
It is through experience I can say that I have always experienced the strength of my Jesus in my difficult times and I can proudly say, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Phillipians 4:13. “He gives power to the faint and strengthens the powerless.” – Isaiah 40:29.
Even Jesus as a human being prayed to the Father, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done.” – Luke 22:42. Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and gave him strength. We are able to become strong only in Jesus. King David says, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my problem and my portion forever.” – Psalm 73:26
Remember one thing, my brothers and sisters, problems and difficulties come in everyone’s lives. But how we overcome them is important. During this time we need to focus on the source of our strength and that is Jesus, rather than focusing on our problems. The Word of God keeps on reminding us that we gain strength only from the Lord. The more we read the Word of God, the more strength we gain.
So, my dear friends, let the power of Christ work within you and lead you to spiritual victory. So, we all can boldly say, “I am strong in Jesus.” Amen.
