“No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” – Matthew 6:24. “No one can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.” – Matthew 6:24
Everyone in this world needs money. Money is truly one of the important part in our life but it is not life itself. “For we brought nothing into the world, so that we can take nothing out of it; but if we have food and clothing, we will be content with these.” – 1 Timothy 6:7-8. Material things in this life comes and goes. Our desire and needs keep changing day by day. We may be financially rich today. But after a few years we may not have enough money to live our daily life comfortably. Or sometimes we may be robbed of our material treasure like money, gold etc. But if we have the true love, joy, peace, understanding, kindness, gentleness; who can rob us of all this ? That is why the word of God tells us, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where thieves do not break in and steal.’ – Matthew 6: 19-20.
“Therefore, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear.” – Matthew 6: 25. For the word of God tells us, “Strive first for the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33.
My dear brothers and sisters, after being with the Lord all these years, I can confidently say that nothing in this world attracts me or satisfies me. Because I have made my Jesus my greatest treasure. “And my God has fully satisfied every need of mine according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:19.
“The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil and in their eagerness to become rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with may pains.” – 1 Timothy 6:10. So, instead of running behind material treasures, let us cling to the true treasure, and that is Jesus Christ and he will fill us with the “fruits of the Holy Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” – Galatians 5:22.
Praise the Lord!
