Jesus says “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12. “If we walk in the light as he himself is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” – 1 John 1:7. Jesus has called us a “chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” – 1 Pet 2:9

There is a lot of darkness in today’s world; the darkness of anger, the darkness of jealousy, the darkness of lust, the darkness of quarrels, the darkness of drunkenness. That is why, St. Paul writing to the Romans tells us, “the night is far gone, the day is near. Let us lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.” – Rom 13:12

Jesus Christ, the true light, has come into this world. When we live in Jesus and allow Jesus to live in us, then we will have no darkness in our lives at all. “For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light.” – Eph 5:8

My dear brothers and sisters, let us decide to live in the light; the light of love, the light of hope, the light of joy, the light of the world, who is Jesus Christ. Amen.
